I’m looking at a 2001 Grand Cherokee at a small used car dealership. The interest rate I was told I was getting was about 10.8%. I find this ridiculous since, the rate I have on my current car, which I purchased used in 2004, is 6.5%. The salesman told me that interest rates have gone up since then. In addition, he said my current vehicle was only 4 years old when I bought it used and this vehicle is 6 years old, which also carries a higher rate. Is any of this true? Aren’t interest rates near all time lows, or is that just on mortgages? When I purchased my current car in 2004, my credit was good, but limited. I was 21 and still living with my parents. I’m now 24, married and a home owner. The only other difference I can think of is that purchase was of a used car was from a large new car dealership.

It shows that the minimum payoff amount in order to refinance a car is 00 in California. Currently we owe 00 some odd dollars on the car. We have 34 months left but the APR is at 19% because at the time we got it a little over 2 years ago, our credit was pretty bad. Our credit has recently improved. We don’t qualify for auto refinancing apparently even though we’ve paid on time every month for over 2 years. The only reason we can’t apply is because we owe too little!

Is there a way we can work around this? Should we ask our current auto lender for a lower interest rate or should we refinance, saying we owe 00, and then get back the remainder? I don’t know how this works.

Thanks
Also, the car is worth more than we owe. Just wanted to state that. We just want to get the interest rate lowered and hopefully cut down the monthly payment.
Our payoff amount to our lender is 00 but we cannot refinance our car because the minimum to refinance is 00. We looked everywhere and it says you have to owe at least 00 in order for them to do a loan for you. We do not owe enough money to our lender.

I have a decent credit score (650-700), lived at my resident long enough, been at my job long enough (almost 2 years) and make more than enough money to get a loan. I have paid on the car for 7 months on a 6 year loan. The interest rate is over 20% right now and have an excellent payment history on all my accounts/credit cards. So far, most reputable financing companies have rejected me online. I will soon go to banks and credit unions. Any suggestions?

Okay…I have a Dodge Neon that I purchased in June of last year. When I bought the car…the dealer told me that the interest rate was 11.99%….fair I thought considering I had a chapter 13 about 7 years ago. Well I just called the loan company and discovered that my interest is 16.99% Way too much than I am willing to pay for any automobile…I asked what my options were and they told me either refinance through another company or surrender.
1) I called around and no company will refinance because the amount owed is higher than the actual value of the auto.
2) I can write a letter of surrender and when they come get the automobile, they will auction it off and I just pay the difference between the auction price and what is left.

I would like for someone to help me write the surrender letter (I searched the web already)…examples would be great!

Refinancing Poor Credit Auto Loans

A bad credit card holder usually finds it difficult to get the auto loans as the loan providers show much reluctance to release the huge amount due to the poor credit rating. They charge higher interest rates from the debtors who have shown inability to pay the loan in the past.

It is seen that as the demand for the credit card and loan is on the rise, the money lenders like to opt for the credit scoring which is based on the mathematical algorithm which has been designed to assess the credit worthiness. This credit rating is much effective tool to measure the level of the high risk of the credit scoring.

Frankly speaking, the higher the rating, the more excellent the track record of the credit history. There are a number of factors like the inordinate delay in making payments, unpaid dues etc. which produce the adverse impact on the credit scoring.

There are major three agencies like Experian, Equifax and TransUnion which sell the credit ratings to people. A person can follow number of ways to improve the bad credit cards. First of all one should take time to review minutely the credit reports which he can get from reporting agencies like TransUnion or Equifax . He should examine whether there is any mistake in the account. He must check properly to find any pending due which was not reported earlier. A gentleman should not close the account that has zero balance which must be activated for the improvement of the good credit history.

So far as the automobile refinancing is concerned, people should select the authentic auto loan for bad credit at low interest. On the other hand, the bad credit auto refinancing loan is much beneficial to those who have poor credit ratings. However before applying for the vehicle refinancing, persons should investigate whether the company offers the good interest rates. Online service is the best option to apply for the bad credit car loan.

However, prior to sign the contract, people should go through the fine print of the agreement to avoid any misunderstanding. Furthermore, to get the auto refinancing loan, a guy must estimate the value of the car. The minimum loan amount is around $7,500 then the car value should be at least that specified amount.
